In addition to her clinical practice in New York, Dr. Shirazian has developed a passion for Women's Wellness globally. She has an extensive background in Global Women's Health, creating one of the first Departmental Divisions of Global Women’s Health in the country at the Mount Sinai Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. Since transitioning to NYU Medical Center, Dr. Shirazian now enjoys her role as the Director of Global Women's Health at the NYU Global Institute of Public Health. She has been a strong advocate for resident trainee education in global health and has established multiple resources for residents and medical students including an online Global Women’s Health Course (gwhcourse.com). She is the editor of “Around the Globe for Women’s Health, A Practical Guide to the Women’s Health Provider,” a first of its kind handbook and educational resource for global health care providers.

Dr. Shirazian also serves as the President and Medical Director of Saving Mothers (savingmothers.org), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to women's health, education and empowerment She is an international leader in women’s health, and has served as the national Junior Fellow chair for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In this capacity, she has advocated for Ob/Gyns to become involved with medical efforts to improve the lives of women globally and to take responsibility for the tragic outcomes women face in low resource settings.
